CERAMIC INJECTION MOULDING TECHNOLOGY

SPT is a world leader in ceramic injection moulding (CIM) of micro-miniature complex components to demanding specifications. CIM is a combination of particulate materials, injection moulding and sintering sciences. Complex shapes are achievable in ultra-hard materials that are difficult, costly, or impossible to form through traditional processes.

CIM is also able to combine multiple components that previously required assembly. As a consequence, SPT’s CIM process facilitates high-volume or low-volume components that are difficult, costly, or impractical to produce via traditional forming methods. At SPT, CIM is a net-shape process that provides the advantages of ultra-hard materials without the cost associated with other manufacturing methods.

CERAMIC POWDER TO MASS PRODUCTION

SPT is the first address for custom made ultra-precision ceramic parts. During the entire engineering and development process our specialized staff work together with the customer to optimize the target product and production chain. Partnering with SPT during the design stage allows engineers to capitalize on the CIM process, while minimizing lead-time and costs to increase speed to market.

CUSTOM ENGINEERED CERAMIC PARTS

Each custom ceramic part has its own characteristics and requirements. SPT excels at manufacturing micro-miniature parts with demanding finish and tolerance requirements. Currently our smallest inside diameter is 15µm [0.0006] with a tip diameter of 35µm [0.0013], resulting in a wall thickness of 10µm [0.0004"].

CERAMIC MATERIALS

SPT has a wide experience in developing ceramic materials. Endoscopic surgical instruments, implantable devices, micro fluidic components and micro-carbide tooling are produced using a wide range of biocompatible materials including: alumina, zirconium toughened alumina (ZTA) and polycrystalline ruby.

Other capabilities include micro EDM in carbides with features <25 micron, micro-hole EDM expertise in materials such as tungsten carbide and titanium carbide.
