Design Case Study: Sterilization Machine

08 June 2009

Sterilization machine brief: The customer’s purpose was to develop a new autoclave in line with the domestic and professional product identity of Smeg, all characterized by a strong, rational design.

What we did: The ice-white coloured B-One autoclave has a particular essential and linear design. In order to keep the front’s aesthetics as clean as possible, two handles to open the door have been integrated in the upper and bottom side, while a light pressure is enough to activate the automated closing procedure.

The only visible elements, united by the same colour, are the back-lightened and easy-to-use 'turn and push' control button, and the user friendly display, which guides the user through all proceedings with clear icons and text.

Result: We pulled it off through hard work to show our added value by demonstrating that we are a reliable and truly turnkey manufacturing supplier. Our client didn’t have to worry about anything at all, which was a real benefit for him and a great satisfaction for us.
