AVICENNA DEBUTS 'MICRO' LASER WELDING

Avicenna Technology Inc. combines automation and laser energy to achieve precisely machined features in components made of polymers and metals. Avicenna's unique capabilities have earned it a place among the leading providers of laser machining services to designers and manufacturers of life enhancing medical devices. Avicenna's laser machining services include ablating, drilling, and marking polymers; and marking and welding metals.

Avicenna debuted its laser welding services last year with the ball welding of multi-strand medical cable. Avicenna has now advanced its laser welding processes to a new level of miniaturization and precision. Avicenna’s 'micro' welding process achieves sub-004 inch spot and tip welds of disparate metals; attaching platinum coils, electrodes, and machined components to copper, nickel, and nitinol conductors and core wires as small as 0.003 Inch diameter.

Avicenna's 'micro' laser welding has recently served an enabling role in the development of advanced diagnostic catheters, stimulation leads, and coils.
