With its inspire™ range of wound-care components Exopack Advanced Coatings is a leading supplier to global healthcare companies. A recent evaluation of the dressings market has led to the development of films that do not require a paper or film on the top surface, to aid in application. Typically thin polyurethane dressings have a paper or film on the top surface to prevent the dressing from wrinkling when applied to the skin.
The inspire polyurethane film range now includes a 60µm film, either with or without adhesive. In addition to making dressings more user-friendly, these products overcome the need for complex converting solutions, e.g. cutting window frames, tabs and kiss cuts into the top liner. Simplifying the converting process reduces the number of dressing components, increases productivity and reduces waste.
These medical components have been developed to maintain the excellent matt surface and low coefficient of friction associated with the thinner inspire films. The higher thickness is particularly suited to blister dressings and consumer plasters where the surface of the dressing can be damaged by rubbing.
