Harry Heinzelmann

Harry Heinzelmann completed his PhD in physics at the University of Basel, Switzerland, in 1989, where he developed one of the first scanning force microscopes. After postdoctoral assignments at the IBM Research Labs in Almaden and Rüschlikon, he moved on to research in nanoscale optics.

Since 1999 he has been at the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM), where he built up nanotechnology activities and is now heading the Nanotechnology and Life Science Division. Over the last few years, CSEM's nanostructuring activities have generated further interest in the field of biology.
