Multimodality Imaging
09 March 2010New multimodality imaging systems bring together anatomical and molecular information and require the competency and accreditation of individuals from the fields of both nuclear medicine and radiology. The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) present their work for the future benefit of both specialties.
EANM and ESR recognise the importance of coordinating working practices and adequate and appropriate training required to offer a proper service to the patient using hybrid systems. Common procedural guidelines are to be developed by both organisations to maximise the benefits to both specialties while ensuring appropriate reimbursement of these examinations.
In addition, EANM and ESR will work with the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) to identify and develop further research opportunities across Europe for which EU grant-funding bodies would allocate funds.
