The Massachusetts Hospital Association in the US published this white paper as a guide for how hospitals in America can survive the global downturn and still serve patients.

With the health insurance scheme in the US, healthcare has the potential to suffer during a recession, with people choosing food and shelter over medical attention during the leaner times.

With many medical device companies based in the US, this situation would have inevitably trickled down to them causing a fall in development in the years to come.

The new federal Medicaid offers an opportunity for Massachusetts hospitals to control federal Medicaid dollars at the same time investing in and sustaining the commonwealth's healthcare excellence, preserving good jobs as we come out of the economic downturn.
