A Healthy Coating

The sticky-looking substance woven between the round cocci bacteria is a polysaccharide biofilm, which gives them protection from antimicrobial agents. Developing hydrophilic coatings with biofilm inhibiting surfaces is helping to make medical devices less prone to microbe colonisation.
