Wireless Heart Monitor Deployed in Italy's Ambulances

14 December 2009

A wireless heart-monitoring device developed by US-based Mortara Instrument will be deployed in Italy in all ambulances that serve Milan's four million people.

The order came after Milan carried out several tests that showed the device reduced the time it took to get patients to the right hospital by 30 to 50 minutes.

This resulted in an 8% improvement in survival rates.

Mortara Instrument CEO Justin Mortara said use of the device will now be expanded.

"This is the beginning of expanding the use of our device through a larger part of Italy's Lombardia region," Mortara said.
