Thermo Fisher Scientific has revealed a new combined liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) Transcend technology system, which uses proven technologies to create an advanced sample scanning tool.
According to the US firm this is a complete LC/MS solution with advanced analytical capabilities for the advanced screening and rapid characterisation of complex samples containing pesticides, metabolites or other target compounds in complex matrices.
The device is a combination of the company's Thermo Scientific Exactive LC/MS system with its Thermo Scientific Transcend technology.
Streamlining many of the technical steps, the system provides simultaneous qualitative and quantitative results.
Thermo Fisher vice-president of life sciences mass spectrometry Iain Mylchreest said this new solution offers improved data quality and makes it available to a wider variety of applications.
The Thermo Scientific Exactive LC/MS system uses the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap platform, which provides ultra-high resolution mass data.
The TurboFlow technology within Transcend virtually eliminates upfront sample preparation, providing fast and accurate analysis.
This new research tool even goes beyond medical applications and will be just as useful for environmental analysis and food safety, according to the company.
