US-based ResMed has launched new AirTouch F20 full face mask for patients on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for sleep apnoea.

The new device features an UltraSoft memory foam mask cushion to ensure enhanced patient comfort.

Aimed at minimising facial markings and skin irritation, the cushion is designed to adapt to the face contours of any patient, resulting in a personalised fit.

The permeable foam of the cushion creates a natural and breathable seal to allow excess heat and sweat flow out through the cushion, without affecting therapy pressure.

ResMed chief executive officer Mick Farrell said: “With its unprecedented comfort, the AirTouch F20 is setting a new standard for CPAP therapy.

“Since many patients spend all night, every night sleeping with their mask, we want all patients to be as comfortable and happy with their therapy and their sleep as possible.

“AirTouch takes ResMed's market-leading mask comfort to the next level.”

The cushion is said to be compatible with any CPAP device and fits the mask frame similar to that of the AirFit F20, which employs the InfinitySeal silicone cushion.

Set to launch in certain countries across South America, Europe and Asia in the near future, the AirTouch F20 is currently available for home medical equipment providers in the US and Canada.

The firm develops medical devices and cloud-based software applications to diagnose, treat and manage chronic conditions such as sleep apnoea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
