Notably, Maintenance and Repair Workers, General jobs accounted for an 11% share of the global medical devices industry’s robotics-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 96% over the prior quarter.

Maintenance and Repair Workers, General, with a share of 11%, emerged as the top robotics-related job roles within the medical devices industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 96% quarter-on-quarter. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 9% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rise by 26% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent robotics roles include Miscellaneous Engineers with a 7% share in Q3 2022, Electrical and Electronics Engineers with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical devices industry accounted for 49% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Medtronic, Intuitive Surgical, Procept Biorobotics and Danaher. Together they accounted for a combined share of 49% of all robotics-related active jobs in the medical devices industry.

Medtronic posted 303 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a rise of % over the previous quarter, followed by Intuitive Surgical with 126 jobs and a 53% drop. Procept Biorobotics with 121 jobs and Danaher with 96 jobs, recorded a 2% growth and a 113% increase, respectively, while Zimmer Biomet Holdings recorded a 42% increase with 91 job postings during Q3 2022.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 78% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of robotics-related new job postings in the medical devices industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 78% followed by India (4%) and Germany (2%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 83% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
