The global medical devices industry experienced a 1% rise in new job postings related to social responsibility in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Social Responsibility in Medical Devices – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a 65% increase versus Q3 2021.
Notably, Miscellaneous Engineers jobs accounted for a 4% share of the global medical devices industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 15% over the prior quarter.
Miscellaneous Engineers, with a share of 4%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the medical devices industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 15% quarter-on-quarter. Maintenance and Repair Workers, General came in second with a share of 4% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rise by 45% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Marketing and Sales Managers with a 3% share in Q3 2022, General and Operations Managers with a 3% share of new job postings.
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Medtronic, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Danaher and Quest Diagnostics. Together they accounted for a combined share of 61% of all social responsibility-related active jobs in the medical devices industry.
Medtronic posted 1,103 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a rise of % over the previous quarter, followed by Thermo Fisher Scientific with 1,085 jobs and a 65% growth. Danaher with 705 jobs and Quest Diagnostics with 691 jobs, recorded a 89% growth and a 1% decrease, respectively, while Becton Dickinson and Co recorded a 28% decline with 639 job postings during Q3 2022.
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the medical devices industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 69% followed by the UK (6%) and Canada (3%). The share represented by the US was three percentage points lower than the 73% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
