South & Central America witnessed a 14.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the medical industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen an increase of 5.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.58% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 1.21% over the last three-month average share.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 28.95% in September 2022, a 37.5% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 23.68% in September 2022, marking an 18.18% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 18.42% in September 2022, a 46.15% drop from August 2022.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 15.79% in September 2022, a 20% rise over the previous month.

Top five medical companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 37.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s medical industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Hinge Health posted 7 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 600% over the previous month, followed by Medtronic with 4 jobs and a flat growth. Abbott Laboratories with 4 IT jobs and Smith & Nephew with 4 jobs, recorded a 50% drop and a 33.33% rise, respectively, while Establishment Labs Holdings recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s medical industry

Costa Rica commanded a leading presence in the region’s medical industry IT hiring activity with a 31.58% share in September 2022, a 300% increase over August 2022. Colombia featured next with a 23.68% share, flat growth over the previous month. Brazil recorded a 21.05% share, a drop of 38.46% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.26%, down by 34.38% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.32% share, registered a growth of 400% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 18.42% share, up 16.67% over August 2022.
