Indian company Allabout Innovations has developed a new device called ‘Wolf Airmask’ which conducts real-time sterilisation and rupturing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19.

An incubator under Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) developed the device to control the spread of airborne novel coronavirus, PTI reported.

Wolf Airmask can potentially deactivate microbes, bacteria and fungus while also lowering the subject MS2 bacteriophage.

The efficiency of Wolf Airmask has been proven in tests carried out by the Department of Biotechnology’s Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), an autonomous institute. It is an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-recognised testing lab.

The results of the test, which was held with support from the ICMR, showed that the device can clear 99% of novel coronavirus in just 15 minutes.

The news agency quoted Allabout Innovations founder Shyam Krishnan Kurup as saying that the appliance when switched on would provide 360° protection and a 24/7 shield by sterilising the air.

He went on to say that this would help prevent the in-house transmission of viruses and that the negative ions were also proven to enhance health and vitality.

Developed from German technology and with components from Denmark, the Wolf Airmask can be used for 60,000 hours or a total of nine years.

Kurup added: “The new tool will be of benefit in the contemporary world where household routine and office work are subject to pandemic-induced protocols. The closed-door living culture adds to the risk of acquiring the Covid-19 virus against which the Wolf Airmask is set to fight successfully.”

Aiding in purifying the air in spaces of up to 1,000ft², the device needs no servicing or part changes.

Furthermore, it can help carry out air purification in enclosed spaces such as hospitals, laboratories, auditoriums, cafeterias and banks at a reduced cost.
