Johnson and Johnson’s DePuy Synthes has introduced a new high-definition (HD) visualisation system, Purevue, for minimally invasive endoscopic surgery.

The imaging platform employs a light source, image processor, intuitive touchscreen navigation, and customisable settings for various minimally invasive surgery (MIS) applications.

Designed to enable case efficiency and patient outcomes during endoscopic procedures, the system further includes local image management to minimise operating room (OR) footprint.

An autoclavable camera head with the endoscopy-sensitive sensor is also integrated into the system for capturing HD images to ensure a clear view throughout the procedure.

The Purevue visualisation system also comes with various monitor options such as ultra-high-definition 4K, and different visualisation accessories.

The system is part of the firm’s Mitek Sport Medicine division implants and instrumentation portfolio developed for use in a variety of arthroscopic soft tissue procedures, a type of endoscopic surgery.

“An autoclavable camera head with the endoscopy-sensitive sensor is also integrated into the system for capturing HD images to ensure a clear view throughout the procedure.”

It expands the division’s capital equipment designed for joint anatomy, including Vapr Vue Radiofrequency and Fms Vue Fluid Management and Tissue Debridement Systems.

DePuy Synthes Mitek Sports Medicine vice-president and global platform leader Stephanie Chamberlain said: “With Americans living longer and seeking shorter recovery times, the call for minimally invasive procedures is accelerating.

“We are committed to bringing forward innovation that responds to evolving patient needs and the Purevue Visualisation System is an example of how our advanced technologies enable high-quality patient care.”

The firm is part of the Johnson and Johnson Medical Devices Companies and develops orthopaedics products for joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial, spinal surgery, and sports medicine.
