Private equity firm Francisco Partners has acquired medical device connectivity solutions provider Qualcomm Life for an undisclosed amount.

Qualcomm Life will separate from its parent organisation Qualcomm and will be renamed as Capsule Technologies. It will operate as a standalone entity with two segments.

One of the segments, Capsule, will focus on offering medical device connectivity solutions for hospitals, while its sister 2net will deliver a medical grade mobile connectivity platform.

“Its platform and hub deliver health and therapy data for integration with nearly all systems, applications and portals.”

Capsule medical device technology and software can be integrated with clinical information systems.

Hospitals will be able to use Capsule connected devices, networking solutions and intelligent software applications to collect and visualise clinical data for monitoring health and improving care of patients.

The solutions are also said to minimise manual efforts and costs.
