Stroke imaging provider iSchemaView has expanded its RAPID portfolio with the launch of RAPID ICH.

Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology, RAPID ICH can triage non-contrast CT (NCCT) cases quickly so that clinicians can be timely alerted about the possibility of intracranial haemorrhage (ICH).

The facility helps hospitals and mobile stroke units working on the front lines to assess stroke patients so that they can make better decisions on treatment.

With a specificity of more than 90%, the fully automated system can identify all types of brain haemorrhage cases.

Following the processing of images automatically from a scanner, the device evaluates them for haemorrhaging. The results are then made available to doctors through RAPID Mobile app, PACS and email.

iSchemaView co-founder Greg Albers said: “RAPID ICH is the next step in AI-powered imaging technology. By providing radiologists, neurologists and other clinicians this level of detection for all types of haemorrhages in such a small window of time, from minutes compared to the current standard of care of more than an hour, will promote better and faster decision making for improved patient care and outcomes.

“RAPID ICH will be extremely useful to facilitate triage decisions in both primary stroke centres and mobile stroke units.”

The RAPID technology has been used in several trials. Claimed to be the only clinically validated imaging solution for stroke diagnostic support across the world, its AI framework also incorporates machine learning, deep learning and expert feature extraction.

This platform is being used for more than 350,000 scans annually in more than 40 countries.

iSchemaView CEO Don Listwin said: “The innovative technology used in RAPID ICH taps into the latest in artificial intelligence to help clinicians make life-saving decisions.

“RAPID ICH’s highly accurate detection of possible intracranial haemorrhages expands RAPID’s offerings past ischemic events to also include hemorrhagic. In the end, this gives stroke care teams the ability to successfully identify and treat more stroke patients than ever before.”

The complete RAPID platform now includes RAPID CTP, RAPID MRI, RAPID CTA and RAPID ASPECTS, as well as RAPID ICH and RAPID Mobile.
