US-based Nihon Kohden has introduced a new portable vital signs monitoring tool with customisable early warning scoring.
Designed for outpatient facilities, the Life Scope SVM-7200 Series measures blood oxygen, blood pressure and temperature.
The newly launched device combines vital signs data and observational data, enabling physicians to assess patient condition promptly.
If the device identifies a patient with a high risk of deterioration, the monitor then converts to a continuous monitoring mode, which in turn allows clinicians to view vital functions within the Nihon Kohden Patient Monitoring System.
The device also features a high-resolution, eight-inch colour touchscreen display.

Most will exhibit gradual changes in vital signs hours before they decline, such as a gradual increase in temperature and heart rate or a subtle, yet progressive change in blood pressure and pulse oximetry.
“These changes can be a signal that a patient is at risk for a larger health concern, such an infection or hemodynamics decline. Regular and consistent monitoring of vital signs combined with our customisable early warning scoring can help clinicians identify these patients early and intervene before the situation becomes critical.”
Furthermore, the device features Nihon Kohden’s inflation-based non-invasive blood pressure (iNIBP) measuring tool, which automatically detects diastolic and systolic pressure while the cuff is inflating.
The Life Scope SVM-7200 Series vital signs monitoring device will soon be equipped with a two-touch send-to-EMR feature.
