OmniVision Technologies has collaborated with Diaspective Vision on the development of the MALYNA system, a new endoscopic camera.

Using multispectral imaging technology, the new system offers indocyanine green (ICG) based perfusion visualisation.

It also works as a platform to adapt additional algorithms for tissue categorisation and quantified perfusion, while eliminating the need for colour agent injection.

The device is equipped with OmniVision’s OH08B CMOS image sensor, while Diaspective Vision’s OH08B sensor will be added as the second sensor.

Both sensors will be synchronised to provide a 3D stereoscopy image.

The MALYNA system will provide a 4K live video stream with physiological information to facilitate decision making during surgeries.

Diaspective Vision CEO Axel Kulcke said: “Known as the fifth dimension of medical imaging, the MALYNA is set to become a standard diagnostics tool like ultrasound, MRI and CT scans.

“This combination of different imaging procedures maximises productivity during endoscopy and would not be possible without the availability of OmniVision’s new high-performance image sensors.”

In Europe, the MALYNA ICG is expected to be available next year.
