Philips has unveiled a new and advanced tele-ultrasound solution designed to provide real-time connection between clinicians across the world through two-way audio-visual calls with live ultrasound streaming.

The compatible, integrated tool is built on Philips’ Lumify portable ultrasound system and backed by Reacts collaborative platform from Canada-based Innovative Imaging Technologies (IIT).

Reacts platform comprises interactive tools such as augmented reality designed to meet the demands of various healthcare professionals and patients.

Users of the Philips Lumify with Reacts will be able to utilise the smart device for a face-to-face conversation on their Lumify ultrasound system. They can also show the probe’s position and stream the ultrasound exam for simultaneous viewing.

“Users of the Philips Lumify with Reacts will be able to utilise the smart device for a face-to-face conversation on their Lumify ultrasound system.”

The company said that apart from virtual guidance, the solution can be used to teach and train medical students and by emergency medical personnel, disaster relief providers and hospitals with satellite clinics.

Philips Point-of-Care business leader Randy Hamlin said: “By combining exceptional mobility and reliability, Philips Lumify with Reacts will open up new doors for the way clinicians collaborate, educate and train.
