Royal Philips has expanded its Philips Ultrasound System (EPIQ Elite) portfolio with the addition of an ultrasound solution for pediatric assessment.

The new solution enables clinicians to make a definitive diagnosis for paediatric patients by providing them with detailed images and the performance they require.

It includes a new paediatric transducer, which provides a 30% greater penetration for more detailed images. It also has a tailored paediatric workflow that helps clinicians to quickly diagnose patients.

It also reduces the need for additional diagnostic imaging steps such as X-ray imaging.

Furthermore, it brings together dedicated transducers, advanced processing and software tools that are optimised for the paediatric diagnostic workflow. It will help to improve the experience of both young patients and staff during the procedures.

The company noted that the children are more radiosensitive than adults and efforts must be made to reduce the risk by eliminating unnecessary exposure to radiation.
