Vitagene has launched ‘Zero Contact’ Covid-19 home test kits authorised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The company is using the 1Health.io platform to facilitate compliance with FDA requirements for assessment of symptoms, telehealth and electronic tracking of the test kit.

Eliminating the need to drive to or be at risk going to a clinical setting and enabling zero contact, the Covid-19 home test kit enables patient sample collection at home.

Moreover, it does not require the presence of healthcare providers. This alleviates the risk of infection for the healthcare providers and clinicians.

The company said it will provide test results digitally within 72 hours after the lab receives samples.

Currently, 50,000 saliva test kits are available for immediate distribution. The company aims to further ramp up the production to roll out 300,000 tests a month, starting from the middle of May.

Additionally, Vitagene has partnered with supply chain manufacturers in the US to deliver the kits, creating local employment and supporting the economy.

Vitagene CEO Mehdi Maghsoodnia said: “Our mission as a team is to help our customers improve their health and wellness.

“Our customers’ number one need right now is access to Covid-19 testing. That is why our team alongside our partners have been working day and night to bring this test to market with physician approval, telehealth supervision and a clear chain of custody tracking.”
