Coronavirus company news summary – LumiraDx and Audere partner to offer at-home kit with Covid-19 assay – Avacta’s Covid-19 antigen lateral flow test identifies Omicron variant

LumiraDx and digital health company Audere have collaborated to provide a self-collected Covid-19 nasal sample collection kit intended for usage with LumiraDx SARS-CoV-2 RNA STAR Complete assay for Covid-19 detection. This will aid in processing the self-obtained specimen. HealthPulse@home, Audere’s testing solution, complements LumiraDx’s efforts to boost testing access and support an increasing number of testing requirements. With the latest development, labs leveraging the LumiraDx will be able to incorporate the solution into their systems.  

Avacta has reported that its antigen lateral flow test demonstrated the ability to identify the SARS-CoV-2 virus’ Omicron variant from clinical samples. In an analysis at the Carlos III Hospital in Madrid, Spain, the AffiDX SARS-CoV-2 antigen lateral flow test showed its ability to detect the Omicron variant as well as other variants of concern. The company also plans to file an application to commercialise the AffiDX test in the UK.

Spectrum Medical has entered supply collaboration for its Acon Flowflex Rapid Tests in the US. The company will facilitate safe back-to-office efforts for several firms in the region with its novel product and service suite to specifically identify the Omicron variant. Using lateral flow technology, the test can identify SARS-CoV-2 as well as its variants with an accuracy of ≥95%. The company also unveiled a virtual Covid-19 testing solution for companies that aid its staff to test themselves in the at-home setting. This testing service will also aid HR and Health & Safety departments have access to test results on a 24/7 real-time basis.
