Coronavirus company news summary – US HHS to purchase BD Covid-19 tests – Sensible Medical to distribute safe surgery systems

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has planned to buy BD diagnostic solutions to boost the access to rapid point-of-care testing for Covid-19 via a broad, decentralised testing instrumentation network. HHS has given its commitment to buy 2,000 BD Veritor Plus Systems and 750,000 SARS-CoV-2 antigen test kits, which will be distributed next week.

Medical Innovation Xchange has collaborated with the Ontario Government to fight against the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic. Under the collaboration, MIX will provide free advisory services to Ontario Together Fund recipients and companies that received purchase orders from the province to increase efficiency.

Lam Research India has provided funding to local organisations to address the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) kits for Covid-19 testing. Additionally, a part of the funds provided by Lam will be used to set up ‘Suraksha’ kiosks that eliminate the need to wear full-body PPE kits, as the kiosks offer a protective physical barrier between the patient and the health professional.

Sensible Medical has received exclusive distribution rights of Toul Meditech's innovative Operio Mobile and SteriStay Clean Air Zone Systems in the US and Canada. The systems are used during surgery and special procedures. They are equipped with ultraclean H14 filtration system, which protects the patient, staff and the instruments from airborne particulate matter, which may contain Covid-19 and other types of bacteria and virus.
