TRaC Global, a UK-based testing, consultancy, certification and global approvals services provider for the communications industry, has received Continua Health Alliance approval as a certified test laboratory.

TRaC Global, a UK-based testing, consultancy, certification and global approvals services provider for the communications industry, has received Continua Health Alliance approval as a certified test laboratory.

With the approval, TRaC will now ensure devices displaying the Continua logo meet the requirements of the Continua design guidelines and specifications to establish interoperability of personal health devices.

Paul Russell, TRaC director, said that becoming a Continua-certified test laboratory is a significant step forward, allowing the consultancy to expand its activities in the healthcare technology market.

"TRaC is at present the only test house in the world to be approved by the Continua Health Alliance."

"For our clients in this sector, this news also means that we are officially a 'one-stop shop' for their Continua needs; making the testing process more efficient and removing the need for separate test houses for ZigBee and Bluetooth technologies," Russell added.

TRaC is at present the only test house in the world to be approved by the Continua Health Alliance, in addition to the ZigBee Alliance and the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

The consultancy will perform testing and certification on healthcare, fitness and medical devices such as blood pressure monitors, heart rate monitors and independent living aids.

Continua board president and chairman and Qualcomm Life strategic marketing senior director, Clint McClellan, said: "TRaC's commitment to Continua and its expertise as a leading testing, consultancy, certification and global approval service will be invaluable in our certification programme."

TRaC has been a member of Continua Health Alliance, an international not-for-profit industry organisation enabling plug-and-play connectivity of personal health devices and services, for more than two years.
