Avacta Group has developed the first Affimer-based rapid test strips to detect the spike protein of the Covid-19 causing SARS-COV-2 virus. The test kits were developed and evaluated by partners Avacta at Cytiva and are said to have showcased positive initial performance data. The test strips can detect the spike protein in test samples which have concentrations within the range found in saliva of Covid-19 patients.

Exceptional Emergency Centers has announced the availability of Covid-19 rapid 15 minute result testing at 13 locations in Texas. The locations offer both antibody testing and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to detect active infection. The result of the antibody testing is provided in 15 minutes while the PCR test results are available in three to seven working days.

Erba Mannheim has unveiled the ErbaLisa Covid-19 IgM ELISA kit to detect the presence of IgM antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.The IgM antibodies are produced during the onset of the disease and this assay along with the current ErbaLisa COVID-19 IgG ELISA can identify early and late immune response phases.
