Royal Philips Electronics has launched the new Epiq premium ultrasound system with new nSIGHT technology and Anatomical Intelligence, designed to visualise deeper levels of anatomical detail and contrast resolution on patients of all types.

The system has recently received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market in the country.

Built around user insights, Epiq provides an integrated 3D ultrasound technique that helps clinicians to interpret and quantify anatomies of interest, plan procedures and perform minimally-invasive interventions.

The technology has been designed to overcome many of the usability, reproducibility and readability challenges related to conventional ultrasound, and to bridge the workflow between diagnosis, therapy planning and treatment.

With Anatomical Intelligence, a rich data base of anatomic structural models and adaptive system technology, the Epiq system is expected to efficiently produce more definitive clinical results.

Anatomical Intelligence is capable of providing advanced organ modelling, image slicing and proven quantification, making exams easier to perform, more reproducible, and delivering new levels of clinical information.
