The Czech Republic’s leading aircraft component supplier, WPA, has pivoted to manufacturing lightweight FFP3 respirators for key workers.
WPA was able to take the face masks from conception to production in two months and has supplied thousands of them to hospitals across Europe. It expects to be able to produce 25,000 sets a day by August.

The respirators are fitted with filters which offer 99.995% protection against particle penetration, exceeding the requirements for FFP3 classification. The respirator is equipped with fully sterilisable filters and made from a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material that can last for decades.
WPA CEO Jiří Heckel said: “We wanted to create a product that could make a real difference in protecting people on the front lines, including doctors and nurses, helping keep them safe while they rise to this extraordinary occasion.”
The mask is tested in accordance with the EN140 respirator mask standard, with the filters approved according to EN143 and P3 standards.
