MD&M West is the world’s largest medical design and manufacturing event, bringing together the entire medical device design-to-market community. This year’s event connects parties across multiple verticals and industries by combining five expos into one: MD&M West, WestPack, ATX West, D&M West, and Plastec West.

Enabling med-tech collaboration

The expo component of MD&M West enables attendees to discover and try out the latest products and technology from more than 1,400 suppliers, with the opportunity to find new solutions and collaborative partners. Likewise, exhibitors will have the prospect to connect with more than 13,000 engineers, designers and decision-makers across the medical device supply chain.

Through expert-led sessions presented in MD&M’s dedicated education hubs, attendees can also stay up-to-date and expand their knowledge on a range of topics, including VR and AI.

Exhibitors at MD&M

Alleima is one exhibitor that prides itself on being a “one-stop shop” for customised medical wire components. Working with a diverse portfolio of alloys, and specialising in choosing the best materials and configurations, Alleima’s wire-based components branded Exera® are used for a variety of applications. So far, they have been used for devices such as cochlear implants, pacemaker leads, fractional flow reserves (FFRs), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), catheters, and guidewires.

Using machinery specifically designed for precision cutting, Exera® medical wire, ribbon, multi-filar and stranded cables can be precisely cut to the customer’s requested length. Depending on the medical application, wire can be coated with polymer insulation and PTFE coatings, in addition to electroplating capabilities.

Alleima recently became a standalone company, having formerly been known as Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT), part of Sandvik Group. Operating as an independent entity has enabled Alleima to focus on executing its strategy of driving growth, materials innovation, operational and commercial excellence, and sustainability.

Alleima also recently acquired the German-based company Endosmart to its business unit medical. Endosmart is an expert in processing nitinol for various applications, such as retrieval baskets for kidney stones, markers for cancer detection or various instruments. What sets Endosmart apart from the competition is its extensive experience working with nitinol and its processing capabilities.

To find out more about Alleima’s and Endosmart’s innovative products, or to speak with a representative about your medical device needs and challenges, you can find them at booth 3046 or visit www.alleima.com/exera
