M&As this week: Halma, Abbott Medical Optics, Bruker


Halma has announced the acquisition of Brazilian ambulatory ECG recorders and blood pressure monitors manufacturer, Cardios Sistemas Comercial E Industrial Ltda and Cardio Dinamica Ltda (together 'Cardios').

The purchase will enable the UK-based health and environmental technology company to expand its international presence.

Abbott Medical Optics has announced plans to acquire TearScience. The acquisition will enable Abbott to expand its eye health products portfolio.

Both the companies involved in the acquisition are based in the US.

US-based scientific instruments manufacturer Bruker has announced the purchase of Italian electronics and instrumentation manufacturer, XGLab SRL.

"The acquisition will enable Abbott to expand its eye health products portfolio."

The acquisition will help Bruker to expand its operations.

Fresenius Medical Care Holdings plans to acquire NxStage Medical for $2bn through its subsidiary, Broadway Renal Services.

Fresenius is a German dialysis products provider, while NxStage is a US-based medical technology company.

The acquisition will help Fresenius to expand its manufacturing and marketing capabilities.
