Stryker’s Instruments division has introduced a new cordless device, known as the Stryker F1 Small Bone Power System, which provides solutions to some current issues plaguing procedures of the distal small bones/extremities.

The device is said to address these challenges and improve efficiency by eliminating the cords, hand switches and consoles in its model.

“The new lightweight system is intended to provide an alternative for existing cord-and-console setups that limit manoeuvrability and efficiency due to the presence of several associated components.”

Backed by SmartGRIP Technology, the system is well- balanced and comes in pencil and pistol variants. Surgeons will be able to use the device to handle three micro saws, one micro drill and a universal motor to insert k-wires and for drilling.

The five motors and three attachments can be interchanged between SmartGRIP Control Module. The module is designed for consistent power, contains insulation to withstand high temperatures and can be sterilised using various processes.

The Stryker F1 system is exclusively compatible with a new cutting accessory called the Resurfacing Tool developed to ensure a decrease in chatter level and improved cut accuracy and speed, compared to 4mm fluted egg bur.
