Once complete, iRhythm anticipates that the deal will support the advance of its Zio cardiac monitoring platform with the addition of VitalConnect’s monitoring tools. VitalConntect’s portfolio spans multiple cardiac and multi-vitals monitoring capabilities and are specifically designed for application across hospital and remote care settings.
IRhythm’s Zio platform is comprised of its Zio biosensor that gained US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance in 2009, along with its ZEUS algorithm for processing heart rhythm data, and its patient data management platform, ZioSuite.
Meanwhile, VitalConnect gained clearance for its HealthPatch MD biosensor, the first monitoring tool nested under its namesake monitoring platform, in 2014.
California-based iRhythm highlighted that with factors including its commercial scale and established health system relationships and go-to-market capabilities, it anticipates that deal will expand access to VitalConnect’s platform. Meanwhile, the company anticipates that VitalConnect’s presence in hospital and remote monitoring settings will also create new entry points for iRhythm across health system departments and patient care pathways, resulting in broadened sales and commercial opportunities for the business.
IRhythm announced its acquisition of VitalConnect in tandem with the release of its Q2 financials. Achieving revenue of $224.2m, indicative of a year-over-year (YoY) rise of 20.1%, the company now expects its 2026 revenue to land in the $880m to $890m range, up from $875m to $885m previously.
Quentin Blackford, president and CEO of iRhythm, commented: “This combination represents a significant next step in iRhythm’s evolution from ambulatory cardiac monitoring to a broader cardiac monitoring and intelligence platform.
“VitalConnect adds complementary mobile cardiac telemetry (MCT), multi-vitals and hospital monitoring capabilities that complement Zio and meaningfully expand the categories of patients and customers we can serve. By bringing these capabilities onto iRhythm’s commercial platform, we believe we can accelerate our growth, deepen customer partnerships and reach more patients across the continuum of care.”
