It is designed to treat lumbar spinal stenosis pain driven by hypertrophic bone formation.
By incorporating single-use integrated illumination, the platform allows surgeons to view anatomical structures directly whilst carrying out either a laminotomy or a laminectomy.
This configuration is intended to maintain precision and procedural control while curtailing disruption to neighbouring soft tissue.
The technology employs a three-stage operative workflow focused on locating, visualising, and decompressing the affected anatomy.
It features protective guards designed to reduce the risk of trauma to delicate spinal structures, along with specialised instrumentation engineered for depth-controlled bone resection.
These tools allow clinicians to excise hypertrophic bone from the lamina and facet joints when overgrowth narrows the spinal canal.
According to SurGenTec, conventional decompression operations frequently necessitate larger surgical openings and bulky instrumentation to retract tissue, factors that can raise the likelihood of scar tissue accumulation, protracted recovery times, and persistent pain.
Additionally, alternative minimally invasive instruments concentrate primarily on soft tissue resection, such as removing the ligamentum flavum in isolation, which may prove inadequate when bony overgrowth is the central driver of spinal stenosis.
Because the Vantage system is pre-packaged as a sterile, single-use product, healthcare facilities do not require supplementary instruments or sterile reprocessing.
SurGenTec sales VP Matt Marta said: “This exclusive license agreement expands SurGenTec’s portfolio of innovative, minimally invasive spine solutions and aligns with our commitment to delivering advanced technologies that improve procedural efficiency and patient outcomes.
“Vantage complements our existing offerings by providing surgeons with a fully disposable system designed for precision and ease of use in treating lumbar spinal stenosis.”
SurGenTec is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, and develops technologies for orthopaedic and spinal care.
Alongside the licensed decompression system, the manufacturer supplies bone graft delivery systems, facet fixation systems, sacroiliac joint fusion technologies, and synthetic biologics across domestic and international markets.
