It is intended to enable functional gait training activities. In addition, therapists can use the device to adjust and optimise a patient’s treatment based on real-time analytics.

ReWalk Robotics CEO Larry Jasinski said: “The ReStore revolutionises post-stroke gait training, providing key advantage to clinics, therapists and patients.

“We developed this design through collaboration with the Wyss Institute at Harvard because of the unique opportunity to combine extensive depth of the supporting science and clinician involvement in designing the ideal system for stroke therapy in the clinic.”

Stroke is a leading cause of disability known to impact 17 million people globally each year.

Nearly 80% of stroke survivors experience locomotor dysfunction characterised by asymmetrical step length, slow velocity and altered biomechanical alignment.

The ReStore Exo-Suit has been designed to treat a wide range of stroke rehabilitation patients. ReWalk Robotics intends to price the device significantly lower than its first generation of exoskeleton technologies.

“The ReStore revolutionises post-stroke gait training, providing key advantage to clinics, therapists and patients.”

ReStore will be available through both direct purchase and third-party leasing programmes.

Jasinski added: “The device’s affordability and versatility make an attractive solution for a broader range of the rehabilitation market than previous technologies.

“Considering the high prevalence of stroke and the need for more effective and efficient clinical solutions, the marketplace for the ReStore is significant and holds immense promise for the continued innovation of care.”

ReStore follows the at-home robotic exoskeleton device ReWalk Personal 6.0, intended to help patients suffering from paralysis from a spinal cord injury.
