It automatically marks and measures any abnormal pathological findings.

The Cloud-based product provides its findings in the form of a quantitative report, which will be automatically available in the picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

AI-Rad Companion Chest CT is intended to enable radiologists to make a quick and accurate diagnosis.

The company added that the software also notifies physicians of potential abnormalities that were not the focus of the original analysis, such as pathological dilations of the aorta known as aneurysms.

In addition, the application is designed to assess images from a variety of CT system manufacturers.

Siemens Healthineers Computed Tomography head André Hartung said: “Examination using a chest CT is a procedure often used in everyday clinical practice.

“For radiologists, this means more examinations in a limited amount of time and usually for low reimbursement rates. AI-Rad Companion Chest CT is a tool that can actually simultaneously increase productivity and quality in diagnostic radiology.”

AI-Rad Companion Chest CT is the first solution on Siemens Healthineers’ new AI-Rad Companion platform. The company intends to expand the platform to include additional AI-based solutions for other organs and modalities.

Last month, Siemens Healthineers announced plans to integrate Mentice’s VIST Virtual Patient with its Artis icono angiography system in a bid to offer a simulation solution for vascular and cardiac interventions.
