Integrated directly into the patient’s arterial line, the CE-Marked Proxima analyser supports pro-active patient care, particularly at critical times, by enabling rapid and frequent measurement of blood gases and electrolytes without the need to leave the patient’s bedside.

Near real-time results are significant in the management of acute respiratory patients, primarily those being treated by extra corporeal membrane oxygenation and require extremely close monitoring.

"Operated using a dedicated bedside monitor with touch screen interface, the system clearly displays patient results on the monitor before electronically transferring them for permanent record within information management systems."

Sphere Medical Germany sales manager Gerhard Riechers said: "From my experience of working within the critical care environment, I can truly appreciate that using Proxima directly at a patient’s bedside can make a real difference in the care and clinical management of critically ill patients."

The miniaturised blood gas analyser also ensures blood conservation since all blood is returned to the patient.

Management of patient data generated by Proxima requires direct connectivity to the hospital information system, and enables point-of-care coordinators and other laboratory staff to remotely monitor its use and performance.

Scheduled to be held from 29-30 May, the 2015 HIT Conference will focus on the effective diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients in alignment with the latest research.
