Covidien’s Endo Stitch automated suturing device delivers a reduction in mean hospital costs and operating room time during total laparoscopic hysterectomies to treat benign conditions, a study has reported.

The study included a total of 5,731 patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy, and compared the overall hospital costs and operating room time of treatments using the Endo Stitch with robotic techniques.

Half of the patients were treated with robotic assistance during their procedure, 13% with the Endo Stitch and the remaining 37% without either.
