The global medical devices industry experienced a 19% drop in new job postings related to cloud in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Cloud in Medical Devices – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a 14% increase versus Q3 2021.

Notably, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers jobs accounted for a 26% share of the global medical devices industry’s cloud -related total new job postings in Q3 2022, down 28% over the prior quarter.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers, with a share of 26%, emerged as the top cloud -related job roles within the medical devices industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 28% quarter-on-quarter. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 6% in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 40% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent cloud roles include Computer Support Specialists with a 5% share in Q3 2022, Computer and Information Systems Managers with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical devices industry accounted for 14% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were ResMed, Intelerad Medical Systems, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Medidata Solutions. Together they accounted for a combined share of 14% of all cloud -related active jobs in the medical devices industry.

ResMed posted 377 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a drop of 1% over the previous quarter, followed by Intelerad Medical Systems with 376 jobs and a 50% drop. Thermo Fisher Scientific with 344 jobs and Medidata Solutions with 212 jobs, recorded a 33% growth and a 31% increase, respectively, while Bausch & Lomb recorded a 5% decline with 210 job postings during Q3 2022.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 60% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of cloud -related new job postings in the medical devices industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 60% followed by India (12%) and the UK (7%). The share represented by the US was 0.96 percentage points higher than the 59% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
