This compares to an 18% increase versus Q3 2021.

Notably, Miscellaneous Healthcare Support Occupations jobs accounted for a 28% share of the global medical devices industry’s cybersecurity-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 105% over the prior quarter.

Miscellaneous Healthcare Support Occupations drive cybersecurity-related hiring activity

Miscellaneous Healthcare Support Occupations, with a share of 28%, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related job roles within the medical devices industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 105% quarter-on-quarter. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 5% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rise by 25% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent cybersecurity roles include Computer Support Specialists with a 4% share in Q3 2022, Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical devices industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Quest Diagnostics, Alignment Healthcare, Intelerad Medical Systems and Natera. Together they accounted for a combined share of 40% of all cybersecurity-related active jobs in the medical devices industry.

Quest Diagnostics posted 2,705 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a rise of 51% over the previous quarter, followed by Alignment Healthcare with 330 jobs and a 92% growth. Intelerad Medical Systems with 313 jobs and Natera with 197 jobs, recorded a 13% decline and a 2363% increase, respectively, while Bausch & Lomb recorded a 55% decline with 135 job postings during Q3 2022.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 81% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of cybersecurity-related new job postings in the medical devices industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 81% followed by the UK (5%) and India (3%). The share represented by the US was seven percentage points higher than the 74% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
