Management Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 11%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the medical industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 23% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 13% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Production Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 49% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Koninklijke Philips, Integer, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Edwards Lifesciences, and Danaher. Together they accounted for a combined share of 49% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the medical industry.

Koninklijke Philips posted 1,156 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Integer 514 jobs, Thermo Fisher Scientific 434 jobs, Edwards Lifesciences 408 jobs, and Danaher 232 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 78.32% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 78.32% followed by the UK (2.82%) and Ireland (2.56%). The share represented by the US was 13 percentage points higher than the 65.25% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
