Management Occupations drive medical industry hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 12% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American medical industry in Q3 2023 , ahead of Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 7% share in Q3 2023, Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations with a 6% share and Production Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 28% of hiring activity

Laboratory Corp of America Holdings posted 3,776 jobs in Q3 2023 and registered a decline of 36% over the previous quarter, followed by Stryker with 2,890 jobs and an 11% drop. Thermo Fisher Scientific, with 2,801 jobs, and Steris, with 2,407 jobs, recorded a 122% rise and a 68% rise, respectively, while Medtronic recorded a 63% increase with a 2,311 new job postings during Q3 2023.

The US held the leading share of the North American medical hiring activity with a 96.62% share, a 15% decrease over Q2 2023. Mexico was next with 1.70%, four-percentage-point up over the previous quarter.
