The top five companies accounted for 14% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Abbott Laboratories filed the most internet of things patents within the medical industry in Q1 2024. The company filed 47 internet of things-related patents in the quarter, compared with 26 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Medtronic with 41 internet of things patent filings, Samsung Group (37 filings), and DexCom (37 filings) in Q1 2024.
