Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Johnson & Johnson filed the most robotics patents within the medical industry in Q3 2022. The company filed 8 robotics-related patents in the quarter, compared with 5 in the previous quarter. It was followed by CMR Surgical with 7 robotics patent filings, Robocath (5 filings), and Intuitive Surgical (4 filings) in Q3 2022.
The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the medical industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 43%, followed by China (11%) and South Korea (7%). The share represented by the US was 9% higher than the 34% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
