A recently filed patent (Publication Number: US20240008746A1) discloses a method for assembling a sensor in a pressure guidewire. The method involves using a band and a shaft tube window in a sensor housing section of the shaft tube to position an inner hypotube within the sensor housing section. The sensor is then secured within the pressure guidewire by bonding the band to the sensor housing section using a sensor joining window. Additional steps include sliding the inner hypotube within the sensor housing section, inserting a piece into the shaft tube window to contact the inner hypotube, and laser welding the piece to interlock the inner hypotube with the sensor housing section.

Furthermore, the patent describes a pressure guidewire comprising a sensor housing with a sensor assembly embedded in it, including a pressure sensor and an inner hypotube. The guidewire also features a shaft tube window for accessing the inner hypotube for welding, soldering, or bonding. A band embedded inside the sensor housing and fixed to the pressure sensor assembly is provided for bonding the band to the sensor housing at the sensor joining window. The band can be a radiopaque marker band and is bonded to the sensor housing by welding, soldering, or adhesive, either spaced apart from or immediately proximal to the pressure sensor assembly.
