Medical devices maker Cook Medical has obtained a contract from healthcare performance improvement company Vizient for the delivery of endoscopy devices.

Under the contract, Cook Medical will continue to deliver endoscopy devices to Vizient member healthcare facilities.

With this contract, the company intends to make its endoscopy products more accessible for physicians and patients throughout the US.

The new agreement is effective from 1 April this year and covers Cook’s full line of endoscopy medical devices, including the Hemosprayendoscopic hemostat.

The contract will further cover products from several categories, including biliary access (long wire and short wire), biopsy, cytology and polypectomy, extraction, dilation, drainage stenting, biliary/pancreatic therapy, stricture management and tissue management.

The categories also comprise oesophagal, gastric, colonic, haemostasis, enteroscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, endobronchial ultrasound, endohaepatology and endosurgery.

Established in 1963, Cook Medical is focused on the development of technologies for the elimination of open surgery.

In February last year, CooperCompanies reached a binding agreement for the acquisition of the Reproductive Health business from Cook Medical in a deal valued at around $875m.

The Reproductive Health business produces minimally invasive medical devices for fertility, gynaecology, obstetrics, assisted reproductive technology (ART), and in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
