PerkinElmer’s subsidiary EUROIMMUN has introduced the EUROPattern Microscope Live (EPML) compact immunofluorescence microscope with EUROLabOffice 4.0 (ELO 4.0) software for modern diagnostics.

The new ultrafast microscope is a fully automated immunofluorescence system and allows ultrafast automated image acquisition, pattern recognition, titer estimation and modern diagnostics at the screen.

It uses novel laser focusing technology to acquire and interpret high-quality immunofluorescence images in less than two seconds per image.

EUROIMMUN noted that the new automated microscope in diagnostic routines eliminates the challenges and supports standardisation of indirect immunofluorescence test (IIFT) result interpretation.

IIFTs are diagnostic assays that are used to detect antibodies in a patient sample.

The EPML autonomously evaluates a high number of recorded immunofluorescence patterns that indicate the presence of certain autoantibodies, which identify a specific autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis or autoimmune hepatitis.

EUROIMMUN’s ELO 4.0 software acts as a central interface for all laboratory instruments and speeds up IIFT testing and other laboratory diagnostics.

Additionally, it enables intelligent and intuitive data management and communication that is needed to provide a 360° view of a patient’s results, including current and past findings, to operators.

EUROIMMUN CEO Dr Wolfgang Schlumberger said: “With the EUROPattern Microscope Live and EUROLabOffice 4.0 product combination, we offer a new compact system that is affordable for any diagnostic lab.

“This system can be applied in all lab environments and under any light conditions, with the aim of increasing quality and efficiency of indirect immunofluorescence testing. Noteworthy is its unrivalled speed in automated image acquisition and classification.”

Additionally, the company offers various flexible laboratory automation solutions for IIFT, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, chemiluminescence immunoassays, immunoblots and molecular assays.
