Software and web developers, programmers, and testers are the most in demand role in the medical device industry. According to Job listing data, there are 3842 active roles and 3802 jobs closed in the last three months, higher than any other role. Although they are the most in demand profession across the industry, the number of jobs advertised actually declined from April 2023 by 5.39%.

An increasing connectivity of medical devices mean the role of software development is becoming critical. Digital healthcare is evolving and the demand for software skills within the medical device development market is expected to grow even further.

Job data shows that marketing and sales managers are also in demand, with 3145 active job postings and 3833 jobs closed at the same time. In the last three months, several thousand jobs have been advertised for roles requiring sector-specific expertise, such as clinical laboratory technologists and technicians, biological technicians, and general and operational managers.
