Thermo Fisher Scientific has been the top recruiter in the medical device industry over the past three months, according to Jobs data. The US-headquartered laboratory supplier currently has over 3,643 job postings, up from 1,335 in May. Medtronic and Labcorp follow with 3,140 and 3,085 job listings respectively.

Most of the job postings are based in the United States (1,732) followed by China (225) and the United Kingdom (210).

Since the start of 2023, Thermo Fisher has cut nearly 600 jobs in the US after the closure of three manufacturing sites in California. Nancy Austin, vice president of human resources of Thermo Fisher’s genetic sciences group, wrote in a letter to California’s Employment Development Department (EDD) that the company decided to close the three San Diego facilities due to unforeseeable business circumstances caused in part [by] a sudden downturn in demand for COVID-19 testing products and other evolving economic and business conditions.

According to the Jobs data, the most in demand occupation at the healthcare giant are biological scientists, followed by maintenance and repair workers and marketing and sales managers.
