US-based Mopec has announced an expansion of its partnership with digital pathology technology provider Lumea.
The expanded alliance will see Mopec incorporate Lumea’s patented tissue-handling technology into its Maestro Encore Grossing Station to improve the accuracy of diagnostics and the efficiency of pathology lab operations.

The integration of Lumea’s technology into the Maestro Encore will be available as an add-on feature starting from 1 October 2025.
By 1 January 2026, the feature is set to become a standard component of the station, making it accessible to pathology labs across the globe.
Furthermore, Mopec will take on the role of exclusive distributor for Lumea’s consumable products.
These products, which are crucial in the pre-analytical phase of tissue handling, are designed to maintain tissue integrity, enhance yield, and contribute to patient diagnoses. They will be offered through Mopec’s distribution network.

By GlobalDataThe consumable products include the BxBoard, a device for collecting and transporting tissue samples that aims to replace the use of formaldehyde bottles, thereby streamlining the process for surgical and lab staff and enhancing the quality of tissue samples.
Another product, BxChip, is said to be a biomimetic organic polymer chip designed to hold needle-core biopsies in place, which helps in maintaining the orientation of the tissue and minimising the chance of tissue loss during diagnostic processes.
